Without Hope, What’s the Use?
Without hope we are spiritually empty. Without hope, what's the use of living? Today Greg talks about the hope that God gives us and how it sustains us in difficult times.

The Hope of New Life – by Laura Urista
“Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us" (Romans 8:18).
My husband and I (also known as “Pops” and “Gaga”) are celebrating the recent birth of our daughter Tawny’s (and son-in-law James’) first child – our third grand-daughter! We’ve previously been blessed with two grand-daughters (ages seven and two-and-a-half) from our son and daughter-in-law. Pardon my personal reflection, but of course the addition of a new baby to a family brings so much joy and hopeful anticipation! I am sure many of you have experienced your own times of joy, hope and new birth!

Calvary: Crucifixion as Torture, Cross as Hope – Brad Jersak
Trite or true, we're each and all on a journey, not quite sure whether any given year, week or moment is really ascent or descent -- the calm before a storm or the dark before dawn.
I see this tension in the biblical story of Calvary, at once a crucifixion and a Cross, the intersection of goodness and affliction, of torture and hope. At Calvary, we see the violence of religious fanaticism married to national security ... and we see the humility, forgiveness and self-giving love of God.
I hear this tension in Augustine, who is quoted in the movie, Calvary, as saying, "Do not despair; one of the thieves was saved. Do not presume; one of the thieves ...

His Blessed Hope – Take Heart – by Greg Albrecht
Friend and Partner Letter from August 2022
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Anxiety and fear impact our world. Disturbing and horrific news overwhelms us so that when we do hear good news—such as the good news of the gospel—we can have trouble fully hearing and appreciating it. We are now, once again as in so many hundreds of times since
Jesus originally said it, experiencing, in our cities, on national settings and international stages, “…wars and rumors of wars…” (Matthew 24:6). Just a few months ...
Hope In Christ
What are your hopes? Does your future look bleak? It was that way for the disciples for awhile. Their hopes were dashed after Jesus' crucifixion but intensely re-ignited after his resurrection. Similarly the only real hope for our future is in Christ and his resurrection.

Hope – Even in Desperate Times
The real Christmas story is not a Pollyanna escape from the real world. The birth of Jesus takes place against the backdrop of politics and intrigue, pride, hatred, violence, taxes and poverty. It all sounds like the evening news or the morning paper!

Hope in Desperate Times
By Greg Albrecht—
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
—Proverbs 13:12
People often give up on God because they feel he didn't fulfill their expectations. And where, exactly, do people receive their education about what they can expect from God? If you answered "religious institutions" you get to pass "Go"— collect $200 and receive a "get out of religion free" card.
One of the major sources of discontent with God is that many people do what they think God wants them to do because they expect him to make them feel good ("bless" is often used instead of "feel good"). And of course we all want to ...
