Some believe that everything that happens is for a good reason and that everything that happens is “God’s plan.” Is that true? What does the Bible say?
God’s grace is offered to you and me and all humanity, whether we want it or accept it or not. God’s grace is offered to everyone – and that means people will not “get what’s coming to them” – even if we believe that’s not fair!
Ceremonies and calendars – rituals and regulations – programs and prescriptions – are the center of all reality for religious captives and addicts. Jesus is the center of all reality for Christ followers.
Jesus is not searching for people who are worthy of his love or who will love him right back, in an equivalent manner. Jesus loves us as and where we are, transforming us into his new creation, far from what where we were when we initially trusted him.
What is heaven? Where is heaven? Is heaven achieved and must we qualify for it in order to “make it”? Can we labor in such a way that we eventually climb up to heaven?
Kenosis is a Greek word that Paul used to describe the self-emptying, self-giving, self-sacrificial love of Jesus. He came to give rather than acquire. He came to serve rather than be served. He came to be condemned rather than condemn.
As Christ followers, people of The Way, we are pilgrims and sojourners, not settlers, because we do not find anything in the here and now worth settling for.
